Fawley (April 19, 2006) -- Members of the Waterside Musical Society received a
welcome surprise at one of their performances last month, when ExxonMobil at
Fawley Refinery presented them with a cheque for £1,000.
The presentation was made during the interval of Soundtrack, a
programme of songs from the movies, that entertained audiences at local
village halls throughout March.
The cheque was presented by
Carol Dunford of ExxonMobil Community Affairs, who said: "The Waterside
Musical Society has been providing enjoyment to the local community for many
years and we are very pleased to be able to give support to their 2006
Programme, which will include a brand new musical comedy in November called
Act Your Age."
Dawn Hall, musical director for
Soundtrack, and vice chair of the Society, who received the cheque said:
"We are grateful to ExxonMobil for its support, which will help to ensure that
we continue our tradition of high quality musical entertainment for the
Waterside communities."
New members are always welcome
either as a singer or in a back-stage role. As well as adults, the Society has
a growing Junior Membership, open to young people over the age of 14. For more
