Safety Incentive Scheme Funds Multi-sensory Room for Fair Isle Nursery

Fife (19 September 2007) --Children attending Fair Isle Nursery, Kirkcaldy, can look forward to a new 'snoozin - calm room' thanks to support from ExxonMobil Chemical Limited.

Fair Isle Nursery in Kirkcaldy looks after children from 16 months to five years old and is owned and operated by Fife Council. The toddler room within the nursery - for children from 16 months to three years of age - looks after children who have been given an early place at nursery due to social or emotional difficulties. The nursery is trying to provide a quiet/snoozin (calming) room, to allow children to relax in a quiet but stimulating area.

ExxonMobil Chemical Limited's donation of £1,000 will allow them to purchase the necessary multi-sensory materials and equipment for the new facility.

The donation was raised as part of the site's Turnaround safety incentive scheme, which rewards employees for working safely and developing and implementing safety initiatives.

Rob Latham, Turnaround manager, who presented the cheque, said: "All staff and contractors working at the site obviously benefit by making sure that Nobody Gets Hurt, and it is also great for us to see local people and organisations positively benefit from our safety efforts."

Nan Bartlett, Early Years officer with Fair Isle Nursery, said: "We greatly appreciate the generosity of everyone at ExxonMobil Chemical for this donation - this is going to make a big difference to the children and staff at the nursery."
