London Marathon runner, Frank Watson, has pulled out all the stops to fundraise for local social care charity VSA in return for his Golden Bond place in the recent London Marathon, raising a fantastic £2,500 in sponsorship for the charity. Frank’s workmates on the Beryl Bravo platform, a Mobil North Sea LLC installation, have all given generously to support him, and have recognised his enthusiasm and commitment to charitable work by requesting a donation to VSA from the Mobil North Sea Safety Award Scheme.
Mobil has generously agreed to a £1,000 donation from its Safety Award Scheme, which was introduced to encourage everyone to apply safe working practices in all areas of their business, and operates at all its on and offshore sites.
A deck supervisor on the Beryl Bravo platform, Frank said: “Getting a London Marathon charity place from VSA gave me the opportunity to fulfil a dream. It was a fantastic experience – I loved every minute of the event and was pleased to finish in under four hours. I was determined to raise as much money as possible and I’m absolutely delighted that Mobil has also agreed to support VSA with this great donation from the Safety Award Scheme.”
Sheila Munro, VSA’s Events officer, said: “We were already delighted by the amount Frank raised for us, so Mobil’s Safety Award is a great bonus for us. I’d like to say a huge thank you to Frank and Mobil for their generous contributions, which will help to support our services for individuals and families, young and old in the community.”
