Irving, Texas (27 November 2006) -- Exxon Mobil Corporation announced today
that SeaRiver Maritime, Inc., its marine transportation affiliate in the USA,
and International Marine Transportation Limited (IMT), its UK-based marine
affiliate, have been awarded the prestigious 2006 Sword of Honour from the
British Safety Council.
The Sword of Honour recognises
organisations that have implemented safety systems that are among the best in
the world. Only organisations that achieve the maximum rating in the Council's
Five Star Health and Safety Management System Audit are eligible to apply.
SeaRiver and IMT, both multi-year recipients, were two of only 40
organisations selected this year worldwide.
In congratulating
both organisations, David Ballard, chief executive of the Council, said: “The
competition has been fierce, and only after the most careful scrutiny by an
outside adjudicator has your organisation been chosen.”
A message of congratulations to all recipients was also sent by Prime Minister
Tony Blair, who stated: “These awards recognise the crucial success of these
organisations and their employees in their pursuit of excellence in the
management of health, safety and environmental matters.”
"This recognition highlights yet another year of significant achievement for
both SeaRiver and IMT and is based on our continuous efforts to improve
performance through the abilities and commitment of our world class workforce,
our high operating standards, our use of sound science and our disciplined
safety and environmental management systems," said Will Jenkins, director of
SeaRiver and IMT.
IMT operates internationally trading
tankers and provides third party quality vetting services for ExxonMobil
affiliates from its headquarters based in Leatherhead.
SeaRiver, headquartered in Houston, Texas, operates a fleet of US flag tankers
and escort/ship assist tractor tugs. SeaRiver also provides third party
quality vetting services to ExxonMobil affiliates in North America, along with
a wide range of technical and commercial marine services.
