Mobil North Sea (MNS) operates oil and gas fields in the northern North Sea and a gas processing plant in the north-east of Scotland. Our production base is in Aberdeen, Scotland, where we have been operating a community investment programme for many years.
In addition, through our North Sea joint operation with Shell, Esso Exploration and Production UK Limited also supports a diverse range of community projects in the Aberdeen area.
These are some of the key projects and initiatives we are supporting:
Schools in Aberdeen city and Aberdeenshire are benefiting from the ExxonMobil Link Schools programme in the UK. Schools receive science equipment grants as well as environmental education expertise and practical support from our partners Grounds for Learning and CREATE.
We have also funded Business Dynamic and Safety Leadership courses for our secondary Link schools whilst our Link primary schools had the option of a variety of theatre-in-education programmes covering subjects as diverse as science and social issues such as drugs and internet safety.
In partnership with Shell U.K. Limited we support Grampian Police’s Learning for Life resource for schools that covers topics such as bullying, drugs, vandalism, safety, citizenship and law and order.
Continuing our commitment to young people in our community we supported Aberdeen Foyer’s Lifeshaper and Prince’s Trust programmes in Peterhead.
We donated portable monitoring and resuscitation equipment to Aberdeen’s Royal Infirmary's Accident & Emergency department. This complements equipment donated by ExxonMobil in previous years and can be used either in the resuscitation room or be taken to the scene of an incident to assist with life saving care.
Our support of BTCV Green Gyms combines conservation and healthy exercise, giving people the opportunity to use outdoor manual work to improve their wellbeing as well as the local environment
Throughout Scotland ExxonMobil supported Energy Action Scotland’s (EAS) leaflets through Churches campaign to inform vulnerable and elderly people about energy efficiency. In Aberdeen we supported an EAS initiative that introduced energy efficiency and cost saving measures and training to Mental Health Aberdeen’s Alford Centre.
Linking our support for the environment with our long association with the National Trust Scotland, we funded the development of a woodland play and learn area at Castle Fraser in Aberdeenshire. Pupils from some of our linked primary schools participated in the opening event.
ExxonMobil’s employee Volunteer Involvement and School Board programmes encourage our employees and their families to give their time and talents to the community. In 2004 some 14 organisations and charities received more than £5,000 in support of the efforts of our employees and their families.
Our safety performance benefited local charities. For safety targets met during 2004 we donated £19,000 to local organisations including RNLI Fraserburgh, Hemsby Inshore Rescue Service, MacMillan Nurses, Saving Sight in Grampian and Momentum. <<BACK |
