Community safety initiatives

Safety is at the core of all we do at ExxonMobil and here are some examples of how we put this into practice:

  • As part of our support for local community initiatives, we are associated with Safe Drive Stay Alive which is a hard hitting, interactive show that tells the story of a road traffic collison and the impact it has on all those who are caught up in the repercussions. This initiative is organised by the emergency services in a number of locations around the UK. By the end of 2009, more than 100,000 young people had attended the ExxonMobil sponsored roadshows.
  • Through our support for St John's, St Andrew's and South East Coast Ambulance, first aid training has been given to teachers and staff of local schools and those who work for not for profit organisations as well as ExxonMobil employees.
  • We regularly run safety fairs in the office for employees to benefit from information provided by the professionals e.g. Fire and Rescue Service and Police. Talks on recycling and health issues are also made available. Defensive driving courses are offered to staff.
  • We run a best 'near miss' accident competition and a children's safety calendar poster competition for employees.
