Presentation of cheque to Enable Scotland

Fife (31 March 2010) - The Engineering specialist team at ExxonMobil Chemical's Fife Ethylene Plant at Mossmorran has donated around £800 to Enable Scotland (Lend a Hand) in Kirkcaldy.

The money was raised through one of the company's charity safety incentive schemes, which are designed to encourage employees and contractors to work safely. The donation was made on behalf of the team by Ron Kasner, Machinery Engineering specialist.

The Lend a Hand project, developed in 1986, offers short break care arrangements where a disabled child visits another family or individual on a regular and planned basis.

Short break care provides opportunities to children who may be isolated and unable to participate in normal activities due to their disability. They often find new friends and try out new things and also get a break from their family.

Families in turn can take "time out" to do other things, e.g. spend time with other family members, or just rest from the task of caring.

Trudy Doidge of Lend A Hand said: "This donation will greatly enhance the activities that we can offer the children using our service. I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff and workers of ExxonMobil and wish them a continued safe operation."
