New computers for Pitstop

Leatherhead (9 August 2010) -- Pitstop, a day-time drop-in centre in Leatherhead for vulnerable adults, has purchased two new computers thanks to funding from energy company ExxonMobil.

Established in 1998, the charity helps the homeless, socially isolated and unemployed.  People go to the centre with problems ranging from housing, benefits and jobs to alcohol or mental health issues, but sometimes they simply need someone to talk to. The charity is small and run by three part-time staff but relies on volunteers to keep its doors open.

Gayle Scrivens, Pitstop administrator said: "On behalf of everyone at Pitstop, we would like to thank ExxonMobil for the help and support they have given us. The two new computers for our offices are really helping with our day-to-day work."

She added: "The computers enable us to send emails, get information to help our clients and to write fundraising letters."

Stella Crossley, Community Affairs for ExxonMobil, said: "We were delighted to help with the purchase of the new computers, as supporting our local community is important to us. The charity offers a fantastic service, providing those in need with somewhere to go to get help.  We were happy to be able to make the jobs of those at the centre a little easier."
